The 1100 alloy is part of the non-heat treatable alloys, which are used in making bars, tubes, sheets, plates and wires. This low-strength alloy demonstrates excellent corrosion resistance, provides satisfactory anodizing and conversion coating finishing, and is unmatched by any other commercial aluminum alloy in workability. It lends itself readily to welding, brazing and soldering, but tends towards gumminess when machined. Typical end uses are spun hollowware, fin stock, chemical storage and processing equipment, kitchen utensil items and general sheet metal work.
